Just taking a look at where Bishop is located on the map, it’s almost clear that the town would be attuned to the nature around it.  Looking at the surrounding area on the map just solidifies that. With multiple parks and reserves in the region, there is no doubt that the people of Bishop pay special attention to the world around them.

With all this wilderness around them, it can be easy to lose track of the hustle and bustle of life and society in general.  The following are two quite different events to help you (and the people of Bishop) remember that there are other things to do other than admire the wild!

Locally Italian: Wine and Food

A local Italian cafe, and not just any cafe: Perry’s Italian Cafe, hosts monthly Wine Tasting events. In November, you can catch an iteration of these events on the 28th from 5:30 PM - 9 PM.  Admission is only $10 per person and you get a great array of 7 different wines to be tasted. Of course, you don’t want to be drinking wine on an empty stomach.

Luckily, this cafe serves a full menu to accompany your wine. Open 6 days a week (closed on Tuesdays) from 11 AM to 9 PM, you can almost be sure to go there any time during the day and be certain that you’ll be served some quality food.

A Taste of Wintery Spirit

The local Chamber of Commerce is well on their way planning the welcoming of the holiday spirit on the first Saturday of December: December 1st. For one, the Main Street Christmas Parade will be happening that day. The parade itself isn’t the only thing happening, there are the unmissable street of lights and the tree-lighting ceremony.

Just walks away is the Best Western Bishop Lodge.  Dab smack in the centre of Bishop, it’s a perfect place to explore Bishop, and it is within walking distance of most activities -- this Wine Tasting and Holiday festivities.  If that isn’t enough then be sure to check out the hotel’s other recommendations for the local area.
