Bishop, California is a town with a lot of history. Perched on the side of Owens Valley directly east of the Sierra Nevada, Bishop takes its name from the flowing waters of Bishops Creek. Traditionally, life here has been for the rugged and tough – but that doesn’t mean we don’t know how to have a little fun!

A celebration of Bishop’s history and the cowboys who made it thrive, Mule Days started decades ago as a send-off as local packers and outfitters left town for the summer season. Every year, 30,000 visitors come to Bishop for this jam packed six days of celebration!

This year, Mule Days starts Tuesday, May 22 and continues all the way to the following Sunday. See over 700 mules with their trainers, riders and packers attend 14 mule shows that include equestrian disciplines such as: Western, English, youth, barrel racing, gymkhana, packing, shoeing, chariot racing, team roping and driving and more! It’s a true celebration of the deep relationship between packers and they animals they work with.

But that’s not all – Mule Days is also a PARTY! There will be comedy, dances and live country music galore, bbq, pancake breakfasts, games, prizes, parades and MORE! Mule Days is a ton of fun every year and if you’ve never been, you owe it to yourself to check it out. We look forward to it every year, and we hope you will too!
